Everything you need to know about compulsory practice

As part of the Bachelor's degree programme in Environmental Systems Sciences with a specialisation in Management, students can complete a subject-related practical course worth 8 ECTS credits in elective module G.4 to test and apply the knowledge and skills acquired in a practice-oriented manner. This corresponds to 200 working hours. The relevant practical training can also be completed during a stay abroad.

The following requirements apply to the relevant work placement: It should offer the opportunity to familiarise students with the content and methods of systems science (Module B), innovation and sustainability management (Modules E and F) and to try them out in practice. It must also be completed during the degree programme and must be approved in advance. When applying, the relevance of the subject or the relationship to the above-mentioned modules must be described. A letter of motivation and a job description must be submitted with the application.

Students are responsible for organizing their own internships; the university is not obligated to organize internships.

It is important to note that planning internships abroad often requires a longer lead time of 3 to 6 months. There are often deadlines for the application. The preparation time varies among the organizations and often a preparation or follow-up is mandatory. It should also be taken into account that such internships also incur costs (application fees, processing fees, travel costs, accommodation costs), which students must bear themselves. Information on grants can be found below.

It is possible to apply for an internship grant at the Office of International Relations. More information can be found at:http://international.uni-graz.at/

Credit or recognition of similar activities from other studies is not possible.

The registration of the ECTS credits takes place after submission of the confirmation for the completed practice in the coordination office.
