Course outline, qualifications and competences
The Master’s Degree Programme in Environmental Systems Sciences / Sustainability and Innovation Management (ESS / SIM) with its socio-economic focus enhances and deepens the students’ knowledge of business administration and systems sciences as well as their interdisciplinary knowledge and skills. In this programme, a focus is placed on issues related to sustainability and innovation management, business and corporate environmental management and environmental economics. This programme includes systems sciences, and especially methods to integrate systems, assess and model sustainable development, and reduce hazards and improve living conditions in the man-environment system. Students are able to design their own environmentally oriented elective subjects. This enables them to individualize their qualification profile, while havin the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary team during an internship, where they are faced with real-world problems, encourages them to apply the acquired competences to concrete and ongoing problems.
Expected results
Graduates of the Master’s Degree Programme in Environmental Systems Sciences / Sustainability and Innovation Management (ESS / SIM) will be experts in business administration, especially with regard to company and corporate environmental, sustainability and innovation management. Their interdisciplinary education will enable them to deal with complex systems, to translate these into models and to assess their structure and dynamics. They will be able to expand on and to apply various theoretical sustainability strategies, as well as to address business administrative and economic aspects of sustainable courses of action.
