International Master's Programme on Circular Economy
Course outline, qualifications and competences
The Master's Degree Programme inCircular Economy (CIRCLE) places a focus on procuring, assessing and optimising innovative sustainable technologies. Its scope includes the dynamics, complexity and interactions among natural, technical, physical, chemical, industrial and economic processes and systems with regard to sustainable development. Specific issues are related to waste management, resource and technology management. These issues require the use of multidisciplinary methods; accordingly, this programme has a strong focus in the natural and social sciences as well as in technical studies. In a basic module, students first acquire theoretical knowledge about sustainable development as well as practical skills related to methods that are applied to the analysis of complex systems (e.g. statistics, data collection and modelling techniques). The range of courses is broad, multidisciplinary and offered at both universities (Uni Graz and TU Graz).
Expected results
Graduates of the master's programme will have acquired comprehensive theoretical and methodical knowledge and skills. Therefore, they will be able to answer questions relating to sustainable technological developments from a multidisciplinary and systematic perspective. They will be able to design innovative systems, to improve existing systems, and to identify, analyse and assess the environmental impact of processes, products, projects and strategies.
