Master Studies

In order to understand the effects of human actions on the environment, is is becoming steadily more important in every occupational field to connect your area of specialization with others. This is the only way to increase access to environmental systems such that cause-based problem-solving strategies can be developed.
Since the problem area of human beings and the environment is inseparably linked to human action, both to individual action and to the social and economic context, it's no longer enough to only perform a comprehensive scientific and/or technical analysis. Instead, an interdisciplinary approach must be taken that also considers economic, social, legal and philosophical aspects and corresponds to the systemic character of the environment.
The degree programme "Environmental Systems Sciences" has been designed to teach the basics and interdisciplinary thinking skills. This helps students both to understand relationships between these fields and to receive a well-founded disciplinary education.
In this programme, students learn how to analyse individual system elements, but also about the study of system dynamics and how these elements are networked. Therefore, system analytical and mathematical methods as well as the use of information technologies are essential parts of the programme. Graduates of this programme exhibit professional competence in this field and possess the ability to connect different fields of knowledge as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
